Limited Edition Red Xbox 360 Officially Confirmed
Written by from on February 24th, 2009 | 0 CommentsMicrosoft officially confirmed today ( via Major Nelson) that they’ll soon be releasing the long-rumored red Xbox 360 Elite. Commemorating the March 13 launch of Resident Evil 5 , this limited edition bundle will include a matching wireless controller, 120GB hard drive, the full version of Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix , an exclusive Resident Evil 5 dashboard theme, a wired headset, and, of course, Resident Evil 5 itself. All of the above will be going on sale alongside Resident Evil 5 for just $399 — the same price you’d normally pay for a standard Xbox 360 Elite console. Not a bad deal if you’re late to the current-gen party and don’t mind your Xbox occasionally being mistaken for a fire hydrant.
Final Team Fortress 2 Scout Upgrade Revealed
Written by from on February 23rd, 2009 | 0 CommentsThe team at Valve has finally revealed the final Scout unlockable weapon coming to Team Fortress 2 . The “Force-a-Nature” is the new load-out weapon to replace his standard Scattergun. It knocks enemies back, and can launch a Scout upwards if he fires it at the ground when in mid-air. On the downside, it seems to carry less ammo and to reload significantly slower than the standard Scattergun. The ability to leap greater distances was hinted at with Friday’s update , stating the Scout’s new weapon would help with navigating vertical space. In addition, Valve is producing a Force-a-Nature t-shirt for $19.95. The company has also opened a poll on the site for users to vote on which of the three new weapon load-outs will come first. We assume this means it will determine the load-out order, rather than actually releasing the weapons on different dates. Finally, with all three weapons public knowledge, Valve has updated its Achievements page to show the criteria for the ones that we saw a few days ago. The update is set to hit tomorrow, along with whatever goodies Valve has left in store. A new game mode? A new “Meet the Team” video? Speculate away, we have 24 hours to wait.

MadWorld Won’t Be Running In 480p
Written by from on February 23rd, 2009 | 0 CommentsWell this is an issue we haven’t heard about in a while. It seems MadWorld will be running in 480i, not the more HD-friendly 480p. Cue gasps. The news comes from Matt Casamassina’s blog on IGN . Apparently, he happened to notice that the game was running in 480i while capturing videos. The horrifying (and hilarious) violence still looks good. Just not as good. But then, if it really bothers you that much, you may be playing the wrong system.

Over Half Of Xbox Live Users Had Gold Memberships In 2008
Written by from on February 23rd, 2009 | 0 CommentsMicrosoft wants you to pay for an Xbox Live Gold membership. As having a gold account gives you access to important things like, say, multiplayer, a decent number of Xbox Live users are willing. Just over half, actually. This is according to a post in the Seattle Post Intelligencer’s Microsoft Blog (via Joystiq ), which cites an “internal Microsoft document” as its source. The Excel workbook predates the New Xbox Experience though, and is only currently up until February 2008. So that’s a whole year in which things could have changed. With the arrival of the NXE, it’s likely the numbers went up. Up to that point though, approximately 56 percent of all Xbox Live users worldwide had Gold memberships. America’s numbers were slightly higher, with a full 60 percent. Not bad for a service that charges $50 for 12 months.
